A true paradise for golfers on the shore of the Mediterranean in the midst of its own pine forests. Belek's natural beauty was discovered in 1984 and the region was proclaimed the "Belek Tourism Center". In later years, Belek became what it is today, a golfing paradise on earth, thanks to cooperation between the Belek Tourism Investors Association and the Tourism Ministry.

The Belek region is located 30 kilometres to the east of Antalya, about a 10 minute drive from the airport along the newly constructed highway. It has become Turkey’s foremost golfing area, with six international golf courses in operation, and more under construction. Recently it was chosen by the Tourism Ministry to be a tourism model not just for today's tourist, but also for the tourist of the next thousand years!

The region has six international golf courses, and 32 four or five-stars hotels and first-class holiday villages. All of the facilities that have been designated first-class provide an ideal atmosphere for families and meticulously offer many opportunities and services aimed at pleasing their guests. All the facilities offer floodlit tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, completely equipped health and fitness centres, play areas and much more.

The town centres of Belek and Kadriye are both quite small, but are self contained and provide the necessary facilities you’d expect from a small coastal resort. As the tourism boom continues, the town centres are areas expected to be improved and enlarged to cope.

Because it is a designated tourist center, the majority of the coast line is taken up by the all-inclusive resort hotels. Behind these hotels are some beautiful government protected forests, and the golf courses that the area is famous for. There is then the main road that runs through Belek and Kadriye, and it is on the other side of this road that the property starts. This means that is very difficult to find anything in this area really near to the beach, and typically the closest properties are around 500 metres away.

The land here was originally farming land, and in recent years has been sold off in strips. This has led to developments of villas stretching in uniform rows away from the road, although more noticably in Kadriye than Belek. Almost all the propertes are villas, with apartments being less common due to the availability of land in the area. There are a lot of resale villas in this area, traditionally Turkish homes that are now being sold as holiday homes. Many need some refurbishment, but you can generally get much larger properties for your money in this area. Good sized three bedroom villas start from as little as €80,000, although as said earlier, these will need refurbishment.

There are also some new developments being constructed, specifically for the foreign buyers, and aimed at golfers. New 3 bedroom villas on a complex start from around €120,000, with 2 bedroom apartments from €80,000.
